Kabul, December 15, 2015: Considering the sustainable execution of public utility programs and projects committed by the National Unity Government for the sake of rural development and living standard improvement in Afghanistan, the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD) has completed and handed over 908 development projects whose work commenced by the National Solidarity Programme (NSP) in hundreds of communities of Kabul province for the past two years. Only two of these projects were formally inaugurated by Eng. Nasir Ahmad Durrani the MRRD Minister today.
The total projects cost is AFN 1,322,185,853. Taking the joint contribution into account, AFN 1,197,647,493 have been disbursed by the MRRD/NSP while AFN 124,538,360 have disbursed by the communities as mandatory contribution (financial, labor or in-kind).
It is worth mentioning that the projects executed in various sectors including transport, water and sanitation, irrigation, power, livelihoods, education, etc have benefitted 179,418 families consisted of 1,255,926 individuals in 786 villages. During the implementation of these projects, 793,303 villagers have been provided with short-term employment opportunities.
The projects completed in Mirbachakot, Kalakan, Qarabagh, Istalif, Dehsabz, Chahar Asiab, Musahi, Sorobi, Farza, Paghman, Shakardara, Guldara, Khak-e-Jabar and Bagrami districts encompass the construction of retaining walls, rural roads, side ditches, water supply networks, safe water reservoirs, school buildings, social centers, bridges, culverts, paving streets and excavation of wells.
The execution of these projects indeed is a constant stride, made towards rural development and improvement of living standards in villages of Kabul province. This way, as overall districts of Afghanistan, the residents of Kabul province can also equally enjoy the essential development services delivered by the MRRD/NSP.
